God's prophetic plan to restore the Tabernacle of David

key scriptures

Amos 9:11–13, Acts 15

  • This theme of Rest and Acceleration has everything to do with God restoring and repairing the “Tabernacle of David” to the church.
  • This rebuilding of the Tabernacle of David began when the early church was born.
  • The Tabernacle of David is a picture of the church that is under the new covenant of grace, not the old covenant of the law.
  • As the church of Jesus Christ, we need to know that we have been saved by grace and not by our good works. This brings rest to our conscience and souls.

Why did God call David a man after His own heart?

PLAY FROM THIS POINT
MAIN IDEA

God called David a man after His own heart because more than any other man of faith in the Bible, David valued, desired, and chased after the presence of God.

key scriptures

Acts 13:22, 1 Sam. 13:14, 1 Chron. 28:4

FOLLOW PASTOR PRINCE AS HE EXPOUNDS ON THESE POINTS
  • The whole reason the Tabernacle of David was set up in Jerusalem was to house the ark of the covenant where the presence of God dwelt. David had a deep desire to bring the ark back to the center of God's people in Jerusalem (Mount Zion).
  • This is why God called David a man after His own heart—a man who knew what He liked, who did what pleased Him, and whom He enjoyed being with—and chose David to be king over Israel.
  • Unlike David, Saul (the first king of Israel) did not value the presence of God but left the ark of the covenant in the woods for 20 years.

David valued the ark of the covenant—a picture of Jesus

PLAY FROM THIS POINT
MAIN IDEA

The ark of the covenant was created to be a depiction of Jesus and the perfection of His finished work. The more we see Jesus and all He has accomplished for us at the cross, the more we will enter His rest.

key scriptures

Matt. 11:28, Rom. 3:24–25, 1 Sam. 6:19, Gal. 5:4

FOLLOW PASTOR PRINCE AS HE EXPOUNDS ON THESE POINTS
  • When you come to Jesus, He Himself will put your weary heart at rest (Matt. 11:28). To see Jesus is to enjoy every blessing God has for you.
  • When God first gave instructions for how to build the ark of the covenant, His intention was to depict His Son through the ark.
  • Every detail about the ark (made of durable acacia wood, overlaid with gold, the mercy seat covering the 3 items inside the ark) shows us more about Jesus and His atoning work at the cross.
  • Lessons from the story of Beth Shemesh: When the mercy seat is removed and sin is exposed, death follows. Stop putting greater emphasis on man's sin and failure than on the atoning work of Jesus on the cross. Instead, focus on Jesus and trust that His blood has perfectly removed all your sins. When you do this, your heart will be at rest and you will experience God’s blessings.

Your priority this year: spend time in His presence

PLAY FROM THIS POINT
MAIN IDEA

Like David, seek and savor the presence of Jesus this year. Wise men still seek Him. When you have a desire to be more occupied with the presence of Jesus, your life will be gloriously transformed.

key scriptures

1 Kings 3:4–15, Rev. 2:1

FOLLOW PASTOR PRINCE AS HE EXPOUNDS ON THESE POINTS
  • It is a sign of wisdom to want to be occupied with the person of Jesus Christ.
  • David’s son Solomon started seeking the ark of the covenant just like his father did after he received wisdom from the Lord (1 Kings 3:4–15).
  • Lessons from Revelation 2: Our Lord Jesus desires to be our “first love” more than He desires our good works. He wants us to remember that this life is not about us and what we can do for Him, but about Him and what He has done for us.
  • Once you have a desire to be more occupied with the presence of Jesus, your life will be transformed. Your entire being will be radiant, and health will spring forth speedily.

Don’t trust in your own effort but rest in God’s ways

PLAY FROM THIS POINT
MAIN IDEA

Instead of depending on your natural thinking or effort to improve your life or ministry, depend on God’s ways—which are all about giving Jesus center place and prioritizing enjoying fellowship with Him.

key scriptures

2 Sam. 6:6–12

FOLLOW PASTOR PRINCE AS HE EXPOUNDS ON THESE POINTS
  • Lessons from the story of Uzzah: When we try to “improve” on God’s ways by following our natural thinking, effort, or experience, the end result is bad.
  • This year, the way God is repairing the breaches in the Tabernacle of David is by showing us His ways again so that we can consciously depend on Him and not on ourselves.
  • God’s ways of grace as seen in the contrast between the Tabernacle of Moses (the law) and the Tabernacle of David (grace): In the Tabernacle of Moses, there are many steps needed to get close to God and there is always the chance of death because people are judged by their performance/behavior. In the Tabernacle of David, people have free access to God. They worship directly before the ark of the covenant (the presence of God) and enjoy fellowship with Him.
  • This year, let us place Jesus at the center of our lives and prioritize enjoying our free access to His throne of grace.

Expect an unprecedented acceleration of breakthroughs!

PLAY FROM THIS POINT
MAIN IDEA

If you have been waiting a long time for your breakthrough, believe that this is the year you will see your miracle come to pass in acceleration. Your days of mourning will turn into joy!

key scriptures

Amos 9:13, Joel 3:18

FOLLOW PASTOR PRINCE AS HE EXPOUNDS ON THESE POINTS

God gives us 3 faith pictures in Amos 9:13 and Joel 3:18:

  • “the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed”—a picture of accelerated and abundant harvest.
  • “the mountains shall drop sweet wine”—a picture of joy that will swallow up all the sighing and groaning of the last few years, also a picture of the gifts of the Spirit.
  • “the hills will flow with milk”—a picture of abundance.

How to experience more healing and restoration this year

PLAY FROM THIS POINT
MAIN IDEA

The more you come to Jesus, the more you experience His rest and a “new and living way” that swallows up every kind of death in your life.

key scriptures

Ps. 132:7–8, Heb. 10:19–20, Ps. 132:13–16

FOLLOW PASTOR PRINCE AS HE EXPOUNDS ON THESE POINTS
  • It is when the Tabernacle of David is restored that you will see your harvest of breakthroughs (healing, provision, restoration) manifest in abundance and acceleration.
  • At the core of the Tabernacle of David is intimacy with God. We can have this intimacy because we are under God’s grace—our sins have been removed by the blood of Jesus. Now we can come boldly into the presence of God and enjoy fellowship with Him.
  • This year, have a heart for God like David did.
  • The more you come into the presence of Jesus, the more you experience a new and living way. The more you come to Jesus, the more that disease dies, the more that depression dissipates, the more that addiction falls away—and the more you live!
  • When you enjoy being on Mount Zion, the place of grace, you will be greatly and abundantly blessed, provided for, and filled with joy.

Introduction: 2022 is the year of Rest & Acceleration

PLAY FROM THIS POINT
MAIN IDEA

The theme that God has given our church in 2022 is “Rest and Acceleration.” This year, we will not need to strive with stressful labor to make progress. As we take on an inner posture of rest, the Lord will bring about a great acceleration of blessings and breakthroughs in our lives.

key scriptures

Jer. 29:11, Amos 9:11–13

FOLLOW PASTOR PRINCE AS HE EXPOUNDS ON THESE POINTS
  • Every year, the Lord gives our church a theme—a prophetic word for us to focus on—so that we are aware of what He is doing in that year.
  • When the Lord gives you a prophetic word for your future, He does this to fill your heart with encouragement and hope, not fear.
  • The theme of this year, 2022, is “Rest and Acceleration.”
  • This year, as you rest in the Lord, you will see Him accelerate and bring to pass blessings and breakthroughs in your life. What would ordinarily take you months or years to accomplish, you will see God manifest in your life in 2022.
