Five Words To Live By: The Battle Is The Lord’s

Overview

Introduction: As the world gets darker, God’s goodness and glory will be seen upon you.

God’s Heart is for You to Possess His Abundant Provisions

God’s plan is for you to enter into His rest, possess your possessions, and thrive in His abundant provisions!

Trusting in God's Promises

God told Joshua: "Every place the sole of your foot treads upon, I have given to you." (Joshua 1:3)

The same applies to us today! While all of God’s promises are ours, we take possession of them step by step.

The Promised Land: A Place of Rest

Instead of entering the promised land shortly after leaving Egypt—God’s original plan—the Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years due to their unbelief.

Egypt represents "double stress", but the Promised Land represents rest and abundance.

Faith and Victory

Your troubles will work for your good when you fix your eyes on God’s unchanging promises.

Fight your battles by feeding on God’s Word and keeping your eyes on Him.

The battle is the Lord’s to fight—not yours!

Encouraging Words

God will feed, strengthen, and provide for you in every situation.

As the world gets darker, the church will shine brighter.

Introduction: As the world gets darker, God’s goodness and glory will be seen upon you

God is the maker of good days. Ephesians 6:13 implies that our days of trouble are few—described as "the evil day"—while our good days are plentiful.

In the last days, the world will get darker, but the church will shine brighter and more glorious. Jesus will be seen in and through His people, as written in Isaiah 60:2.

You need not worry about what’s going to happen in the world because you don’t live under its economy or kingdom. You are part of the kingdom of God. You live off the supply, provisions, and resources of heaven, as Philippians 4:19 declares.

Jesus said in Matthew 24:7 that in the end times, nations will rise against nations, and there will be pestilences and great earthquakes. But in the midst of this darkness, He urges us to look up, for our redemption draws near, as recorded in Luke 21:28.

We can look forward to being transformed—into our brand-new bodies—to be forever young and strong.

God’s heart is for you to possess His abundant provisions and thrive in life

(Video plays: Theme of the Year 2016, Possessing Our Possessions)

One description of Canaan, the land that God promised the children of Israel, is its massive clusters of grapes. These grapes were so huge that a single cluster had to be carried on a pole between two men.

In contrast, grapes were difficult to grow in Egypt—a picture of the world.

Grapes and wine represent the joy of the Holy Spirit. This shows us that the pleasures of God’s kingdom are bigger, greater, and far surpass all the pleasures of the world.

The pleasures of the world are often a perversion or alteration of God’s blessings—leading to negative effects or even bondage. But the pleasures of God are always abundant, increasing, and free from harm!

God told Joshua that the promised land belonged to the people of Israel. He said, "Every place the sole of your foot treads upon, I have given to you." (Joshua 1:3)

The same applies to us today! While all of God’s promises are ours, we take possession of them step by step.

Pastor shares a testimony of a sister whose husband was healed from a tumor due to testicular cancer. His healing came gradually—step by step—as he committed his difficulty to the Lord and partook of the holy Communion.

There are great rewards at the end of your trial!

(Pastor shares about the series Boldly Ask, Boldly Receive—addressing questions such as:
"Is it wrong to ask God to bless me again and again?"
 "Does God answer 'selfish' prayers?"
"Why do I need to pray if God already knows my needs?")

These teachings help ground us as we seek to possess God’s promises.

Instead of entering the promised land shortly after leaving Egypt—God’s original plan—the Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years due to their unbelief.

In Hebrew, "Egypt" means double straits or double stress. God’s plan was to bring them from a land of stress into a land of rest. A land where they would live in cities they did not build and eat from vineyards they did not plant—Joshua 24:13.

God promised them a finished work—prepared by someone else.

When Israel sent spies into the promised land, they saw giants occupying it. But those giants had no right to the land—it wasn’t theirs. They were merely squatters.

Today, you might be believing for healing or provision, yet the enemy seems to be sitting on it. But the devil has no right to it! That promise belongs to you.

God will evict the enemy from the areas of your life where he is squatting. The Lord will bring you into your promised land—where you will enjoy the overflowing blessings of His finished work.

The promised land is a place of rest.

In Egypt, the food—melons, leeks, garlic, onions—required backbreaking labor.

But in Canaan, the promised land, the food—figs, pomegranates, vines, olives—was easy to pick.

God’s desire is for you to enter into His rest, possess your possessions, and thrive in His abundant provisions!
